Nicroplis is a city near Alexandria, Legio XXII Deiotariana, there were in service in there on 1st century BC. After Anno Domini they were sent to Kingdom of Armenia to fight with Parthia Empire. and also they were sent to Judaea to fight with Jewish rebellions too.

Been playing Rome 2 Total War and have never imagined Roman legionnaires smiling, its pretty a good break from all the cruelty that war gives

Roman soldiers were indeed  the most greatest soldiers of the Ancient World despite for known of great losses. Those men build the Roman Empire and held it together.

Nice to see the lighter side of what could be a very dark profession.  Roman soldiers were known for their cruelty.

Actually, they were not known to be any more cruel than other cultures of the time. In fact, they were far more civilized than some of their opponents like the Britons. Good Roman generals were harsh, but fair like Gaius Marius.
